When you need this form

Routine hazard walks keep plant rooms, workshops, common areas and maintenance zones from drifting into disrepair. Use this inspection when standing up preventive maintenance rounds, before a permit is issued, or on the monthly WHS cycle a building owner expects. Findings feed the defect list, and a documented inspection history is what proves the site was actively managed rather than reactively patched.

Evidence beats assertion. A completed inspection carries the photo of the frayed lead or blocked exit, the corrective action raised against it, and the date it was closed. Word checklists lose that link. Handing a client a clean run of inspections with closed actions is the simplest way to show the contract is under control.

What good looks like

• Each area walked listed, with the inspector and inspection date recorded.
• Hazards described specifically: blocked egress, damaged leads, missing guarding, housekeeping.
• Photo attached to every defect, showing the actual condition found.
• Risk rated, corrective action assigned to a person with a due date.
• Compliance status marked and authorised sign-off applied at close-out.
